RIYADH — The Culinary Arts Authority has launched an initiative titled "Our Kitchen Legacy" to document Saudi cooking recipes both in digital as well as in printed formats, which will contribute to creating a database of Saudi cooking recipes, enriching the cultural content of the local kitchen and serving the cooking sector in the future. The initiative is part of the "Culture in isolation" campaign launched by the Ministry of Culture, covering all cultural initiatives undertaken by the ministry and its affiliated bodies during the period of lockdowns and curfew in the light of the coronavirus outbreak. The campaign offers a package of activities to all segments of the society to engage in and make the most of their time in isolation. The ministry has set out conditions for participation in the "Our Kitchen Legacy" initiative which are the following: *The recipe should be distinguished by originality and most of its components should be from the local Saudi environment. *The historical aspect of the recipe must also be clarified, and the moral rights of the participants in the initiative will be preserved. Entries are received through the initiative's dedicated online platform https://engage.moc.gov.sa/culinary. The participation period will continue from April 16 to May 5, 2020 and the names of the winners will be announced on May 26. The winning recipes will be printed in a book which will be included the Saudi Cooking Library.
