JEDDAH — A total of 143 new coronavirus cases were reported in Bahrain on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 1,001, according to the country's health authorities. Meanwhile, 15 more coronavirus patients have recovered, raising the total number of recoveries in the kingdom to 663, the officials at the ministry said. Out of the total 143 new cases, 128 were of migrant workers, while 13 cases were the result of contacts with the already infected people and two cases came from abroad. The infections among the migrant workers were discovered after monitoring them and subjecting them to medical tests. A total of 3,288 laboratory tests were carried out in the last 24 as part of the extensive campaign to screen migrant workers in their homes in a number of regions of the country. All the migrant workers who tested positive for the virus have been quantified and are receiving the required medical treatment. The health authorities also said that mobile screening units are conducting random checks in all regions of Bahrain for all citizens and residents.
