RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday shared a message of values and international solidarity, highlighting the work of more than 6,000 Saudi doctors in 41 countries "standing by" fellow humans in the fight against the novel coronavirus. In a video shared on the ministry's Twitter account, Saudi doctors in different parts of the world sent out a unified message of support with the slogan: "We stand by you" to any human needs medical attention. From France, UK, Austria, Switzerland, Canada and the Republic of Ireland, Saudi doctors in the ministry's clip, re-iterated their country's value that humans come first regardless of race and religion especially at a time when the pandemic doesn't discriminate between its victims. Recently, more than 280 Saudi doctors who were participating in the French-Saudi specialization program decided to stay in France to help their colleagues combat the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, according to the Saudi foreign ministry. The Saudi doctors were part of the scholarship programs sponsored by the government which offered them training and internships in several French hospitals. Also, a Saudi doctor -- who decided to stay in Italy rather than return home when he was given the chance to do so during the outbreak as part of a repatriation plan – shared his story with Al Arabiya and said: "I could not leave. The sounds of the ambulances and cars transporting the dead filled the city, and my role as a doctor [is essential] during these crises." -- Al Arabiya English
