JEDDAH — Qatar on Thursday reported 144 new cases of coronavirus and one more death from the deadly virus, bringing the total number of infections to 949 and three fatalities, Qatar News Agency reported quoting the Ministry of Public Health. Some of the new cases were related to travelers who returned to Qatar from abroad and were subjected to quarantine upon arrival. Other new cases were in contact with people previously infected with the virus, the ministry said. All newly infected cases have been put in isolation wards and are receiving all necessary medical care, according to the ministry. It added that the authorities conducted a total of 26,260 tests so far. The ministry also announced the recovery of one more patient, making the total number of recovered cases in Qatar now at 72. Giving details on the fatality, the ministry said that the deceased was an 85-year-old resident who was suffering from acute pneumonia. He was admitted to intensive care immediately upon the diagnosis on Wednesday, and treatment and medical care was provided to him immediately.
