RIYADH — Saudi Arabia reported 38 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the Kingdom to 171, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted the Ministry of Health as saying on Tuesday.
Among the first three cases is a citizen who came in contact with a previous case, another Saudi citizen coming from Germany and a Jordanian resident coming from the United Kingdom. All the three cases are quarantined in a Jeddah health facility.
The ministry said that the two cases – fourth and fifth – are of an Egyptian man and woman coming from Egypt. The sixth is that of a Turkish woman who came from Turkey. All of them are quarantined in a Makkah health facility.
The ministry added that there are 10 other cases. Of these, six are Saudi citizens coming from Iraq, a citizen coming from Italy, a citizen who mingled with a previous case, and two citizens who are under investigation. All the 10 cases are quarantined in a health facility in Qatif.
There are three cases — one for a citizen coming from Spain, and two for citizens who mingled with previous cases. All of them are quarantined in a Dhahran health facility.
The ministry said that there are 13 cases for citizens coming from several countries, including Jordan, Oman, India, Britain, Turkey, Switzerland, and Austria, in addition to the case of a Jordanian resident who came from Spain, three cases of Saudi citizens, and two cases of expatriates from the Philippines who mingled with previous cases.
All of them are quarantined in a health facility in Riyadh. The Ministry of Health stated that the total number of registered cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Kingdom is 171, with the recovery of 6 cases, while the rest of the cases are currently receiving treatment under quarantine in health facilities.
The ministry appealed to all to comply with the guidelines, instructions and directives for their own safety and that of the society. These include avoiding shaking hands, washing hands frequently and keeping away from gatherings.
The ministry called on whoever has queries on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) to immediately call the Health Call Center at "937". It stressed to the public to seek information only from the official sources and not to heed to rumors.
It is noteworthy that the coronavirus infection has reached 161 countries, amid concerted global and local efforts to contain and eradicate the virus.
