ALULA — Prince Badr Bin Abdullah Bin Farhan, governor of the Royal Commission for AlUla, on Sunday inaugurated the first stage of the Center for Diagnosis and Assessment of the Disabled in AlUla. The center is scheduled to receive visitors till May 31, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said. Through the center, the commission will provide modern support machinery and will introduce adjustments and amendments in the homes of the disabled, in line with the assessments and recommendations of specialists. The commission will set up a social rehabilitation center and it will be a big leap in improving the life of the disabled in AlUla governorate. It will also save the disabled the trouble of traveling long distances to receive the necessary care. The social rehabilitation center is an important part of the commission's vision to improve the quality of life for the society in AlUla, and provide comprehensive rehabilitation and social services, according to the highest world standards. The commission has called on all disabled persons among the population in AlUla governorate to visit the new center to undergo assessment. Meanwhile, the governor of the Royal Commission for Al-Ula and Roth Eduardo Neira, chairman of the Board of Directors and Founder of AZULIK Hotels and Resorts Group have signed an agreement to provide architectural consultation services and preliminary design of AZULIK Hotel in AlUla. The international AZULIK Group of Hotels and Resorts is adopting a unique and innovative method of design, which is responsible toward the environment and merges arts with nature. This is in conformity with the commission's vision to develop while preserving the distinctive environmental and natural attributes of the place. This will merge the natural scene with the rich cultural heritage of AlUla hence reflecting the commission's compliance with providing unique experiences to the visitors. Work in the preliminary designs is expected to be completed in the second quarter of the current year. Prince Badr also signed a new partnership agreement with Accor Hotels Group, the pioneering group in the field of superb hospitality to manage and operate the magnificent Ashar Resort in AlUla, which hosted visitors from different parts of the world during the Winter At Tantora season. This partnership with Accor comes within the sphere of the efforts of the Royal Commission for AlUla to improve the standard of hotel services in AlUla and raise the level of readiness in the governorate to receive visitors from different parts of the world. With this partnership, the French group will focus on providing a unique experience to the visitors and guests of AlUla and in the next Winter At Tantora season. Earlier, the commission announcedthe reopening of a number of heritage and archeological sites in the governorate in October this year. These include Al-Hijr, the first Saudi site to be included in the UNESCO's World Heritage List.
