Volunteers sought for next month's Saudi Ladies International
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2020

Members of the public are being invited to write their name into the history books by volunteering at the first-ever Saudi Ladies International professional golf tournament.
Online registration is now open for the debut event's Volunteers' Program, which is looking to recruit hundreds of people to help with the smooth-running of the four-day competition, taking place March 19-22 at the pristine Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).
As the inaugural professional women's golf event held in the Kingdom, the Ladies European Tour (LET) tournament will mark the first time that professional female golfers have played competitively in the country, and comes hot on the heels of last month's triumphant men's equivalent, the Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers — won by Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell.
Volunteers will have the chance to get inside the ropes and up close with fan-favorite female golfers, including Order of Merit winner Beth Allen, three-time LET winner Carly Booth and Solheim Cup hero Azahara Munoz.
Those accepted will be briefed before the event and will receive an exclusive tournament uniform to wear throughout the week while they work. Marshals, which include Traveling, Static, Crossing and Transitional positions, will be required for the duration of the tournament, Thursday to Sunday.
Mobile scoreboard operators and walking scorers are just a few of the other roles volunteers can take on, providing a unique insight into this world-class event in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).
Speaking about the importance of the 2020 Volunteers' Program, Mike Oliver, event director at tournament hosts Golf Saudi, said: "Being the first year of this event, we are offering potential volunteers a fantastic opportunity to be part of history, working at the first-ever professional women's golf event to be held in the country.
"The volunteers, from both Saudi Arabia and abroad, will play a key role in helping us deliver a successful inaugural tournament. To those joining us for this year's tournament, I look forward to welcoming you all in March."
Volunteers will be provided with all food and beverage while on site and will receive a Certificate of Service once the tournament is over to remember the occasion by. And if that wasn't enough, volunteers will get to have their photo taken with the 2020 ladies winner during the prize presentation, a moment set to be witnessed by global audiences through live broadcast of Saudi Ladies International worldwide. — SG
