Art Jameel, an independent organization that supports arts, education and heritage in the Middle East and beyond, Thursday announced it has partnered with Highland Print Studio, a printmaking and digital imaging facility based in the Scottish Highlands, to present a three-week program of workshops, a talk and an exhibition on printmaking. Supported by the British Council, the program runs from Feb. 6 to March 2 at the Project Space Art Jameel Jeddah, a creative space opened by Art Jameel in 2019 in Al-Balad, Jeddah's historic district. The program has been designed to cater to different levels of experience, ability and interest through different events and activities. Highland Print Studio has curated an exhibition of prints by established, international artists, ‘from Alba to Arabia', that opens on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. and runs until March 2 (except weekends). The touring exhibition, which was at Stal Gallery in Muscat and Alserkal Avenue in Dubai last month, is free and open to all, with guided tours provided by members of the Highland Print Studio team. A public talk on Feb. 9 about printmaking will take place alongside a series of workshops by the Highland Print Studio team that provides a comprehensive introduction to the practice of printmaking, covering different aspects of printmaking such as linocut, drypoint, and polymer photogravure from drawings. The workshops require registration in advance and places will be granted on a first-come-first-serve basis; each workshop has a maximum capacity of six. Interested practitioners are encouraged to register for the workshops as soon as possible at [email protected]. Fatima Mazeh, senior program manager for Heritage, Art Jameel, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with Highland Print Studio to present an extensive printmaking program. This partnership reflects Art Jameel's commitment to providing a range of programming across an array of disciplines in response to the needs of the Saudi arts scene. We look forward to continuing to work with colleagues to explore how we can best contribute to the sector through a range of programs and initiatives across Project Space Art Jameel Jeddah, Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Jeddah and Hayy:Creative Hub." Project Space Art Jameel Jeddah complements the Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Jeddah, the center for artisanship, architectural discourse and heritage preservation. The three-week program of an exhibition, workshops, and talk will be held at Project Space Art Jameel Jeddah, located next to the Jamjoom House in Al-Balad, Jeddah's historic district. — SG
