Security raids on Friday netted 149 vegetable and fruit vendors, beggars, car washers and housemaids. The anti-crime campaign started after midnight and continued until dawn during which the patrols searched several ramshackle houses. Arab nationals were among those arrested. The patrols arrested 19 Ethiopian women living in two adjacent houses who admitted that they were working as housemaids on hourly basis. Most of them were under 18. The anti-crime campaign was carried out under the supervision of Brig. Muhammad Al-Asmari, Director of Jeddah Passports Department, and led by Col. Misfir Al-Telaili, Commander of Passport Patrols in Makkah Region. – Okaz __
