Dubai SME, the agency of Dubai Economy mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, announced the launch of a new business incubator, ‘Bedayat,' in cooperation with The Sustainable City in Dubai, the first fully operational sustainable community in the Middle East. The launch is an important starting point for entrepreneurs and start-ups by way of the services and ideas that the incubator provides, including new solutions to help them flourish in the UAE market and the region. The new facility has been launched in line with the accreditation being granted to incubators and business accelerators by Dubai SME to provide support, guidance and follow-up to SMEs, promote investment in fourth generation technologies in Dubai, and create an ideal environment for entrepreneurial startups. The incubator is the seventh among such Dubai-SME-approved facilities and will provide a variety of services, packages, and events to support entrepreneurs within an ideal environment for implementing innovative projects and successfully competing in the local market, eventually expanding globally. Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME, said: "We are pleased to launch the Bedayat incubator, which represents our consistent focus on promoting and motivating entrepreneurship as well as on supporting innovation. This incubator will add further to the accomplishments of other incubators that have contributed in supporting 50 incubated projects so far, in addition to organizing 100 events including training workshops and specialized programs in startup development and advisory." Al Janahi added: "We thank The Sustainable City for this initiative and their cooperation in launching the Bedayat incubator. We are confident that this facility will attract brilliant ideas in the fields of food technology, energy, water, building materials, transportation, and waste treatment as well as contribute to enabling SMEs to develop their innovations in the fields of sustainable technologies, turning them into commercial opportunities." Dubai SME, through regulating and accrediting the activities of Incubators and Business Accelerators, seeks to provide an opportunity to expand investments in the entrepreneurial platforms in its various sectors. The initiative is a step towards establishing a Dubai Business Incubator Network (DBIN), which will act as a guide to assist, encourage and share best practices for business incubators in the UAE as well as to inspire and support the private sector to invest in such incubators and accelerators. Faris Saeed, CEO and co-founder of Diamond Developers, the developer of The Sustainable City, said: "We are delighted to provide a smart ecosystem for creative entrepreneurs who believe in making cities more suitable and sustainable to live in. Thanks to this new incubator, owners of new projects and startups will be able to obtain experiences and opportunities to communicate and get acquainted with the bodies that have contributed to achieving the vision of The Sustainable City, launching their ideas through Bedayat and working to achieve their goals to reach the success that they aspire for." Bedayat will provide support services for startups, including training sessions and opportunities to meet with business experts in all fields to gain experience. Moreover, the incubator provides opportunities to conduct research and experiment ideas before applying them on-ground to ensure their effectiveness and success. It will also organize private meetings and events with the aim to enhance communication between its members, experts and companies as well as facilitate the exchange of information to help the owners of start-up projects succeed. — SG
