JEDDAH – Jeddah Governorate has derived the design of the 5th Jeddah International Book Fair this year from the ancient architectural design of the Kingdom's mud houses. The book fair's activities have begun with a cultural identity characterized by diversity, rich knowledge and effective local, Arab and international participation, a Saudi Press Agency (SPA) report said. The book fair's site, which totals 30,000 sq. meters on the plot of land for events in Jeddah's Southern Obhur district, overlooks the mesmerizing Jeddah Corniche. Hence, the beauty of culture and creativity is blended with the cool breeze from the Red Sea and sea waves breaking on the shores. Jeddah, which is characterized by this natural beauty, is also known as being a city of civilization, history and culture throughout the ages. Prince Mishal Bin Majed, governor of Jeddah and chairman of the Higher Committee for the Book Fair, held several meetings in the presence of related committees and various sectors participating in this cultural event. The objective is to come out with this cultural event in its best form, in tandem with its importance and satisfying the tastes of all segments of society. Prince Mishal stressed the importance of good preparations and working with the spirit of one team to organize the book fair, one of the biggest specialist exhibitions in the Arab World.
