JEDDAH — As many as 84,778 people have visited the fifth annual Jeddah Book Fair in three days, according to local daily Al-Madina on Sunday. Emir of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal had opened the fair on Wednesday, which will continue for 10 days. Some 400 publishing houses from 40 countries are participating in the fair which will have about 50 various activities including poetic nights, cultural events, theatrical shows and others. There are special programs for the children to enjoy while their parents are touring the various pavilions. There are about 350,000 book titles on display at the fair at which about 200 writers will sign their books. The Ministry of Culture has established a special pavilion for the Saudi authors, who have not joined any of the publishing houses, to project and market their books. Through a number of doors, the fair is easily accessible. The visitors can enter and exit the fair, in southern Ubhor, without any difficulty. There are many restaurants and sitting places where the visitors can relax after touring the fair.
