MEWA reviews investment scene in the Netherlands fisheries sector

RIYADH — The Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture "MEWA" reviewed investment opportunities in the fisheries sector in the Netherlands in the presence of businessmen representing 10 local companies.
The delegation of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture concluded the visit program to the Netherlands, which included the presence of 10 local companies in the presence of a number of businessmen and entrepreneurs interested in investing in the fisheries sector, in cooperation with the Dutch embassy in the Kingdom.
Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, director general of the General Directorate of Fisheries and CEO of the National Fisheries Development Program, explained that the visit included one of the most prestigious Dutch universities specializing in studies and research related to the agricultural sector, to view specialized studies in aquaponic and inspect the university's aquatic facilities to benefit from the experience, with the aim of transfer the Dutch experiences to develop the Saudi industry and promote sustainable development in line with the ministry's plans in the aspect of food security and raise production to 600,000 ton to achieve the goals of the Kingdom's 2030 Vision.
Dr. Ali added that the program included visiting several leading companies in the aquaculture industry to see the most important techniques and practices of Dutch companies with extensive experience in this field and to enhance efforts to develop this promising industry.
He also pointed out that the visit comes to make use of the successful Dutch experiences in various sectors related to aquaculture, smart technologies and sustainable development, and to provide an opportunity for young businessmen and entrepreneurs to participate in a series of field visits and workshops.
Indicating that the meetings provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions and review trade and investment opportunities, with a view to benefiting and transferring these useful experiences to the aquaculture industry in Saudi Arabia, and to provide innovative solutions to invest the appropriate opportunities and overcome potential challenges.
