RIYADH — Minister of Civil Service Sulaiman Al-Hamdan reemphasized the ministry's keenness on empowering women through hiring them in the available jobs in all government agencies and departments. "We started empowering women in the Ministry of Civil Service by enabling them to occupy supervisory and leadership positions, as well as to assign important files and initiatives to competent women to achieve the ministry's strategies and stated objectives," he said while lauding the excellence of women cadres and their creativity in all the tasks assigned to them. Al-Hamdan made the remarks while opening a meeting for women employees of the ministry aimed at introducing the role of Women's Empowerment Agency under the ministry. He said that the ministry is working to make available a suitable and fair work environment for the empowerment of women in the government sector and enable them to do their work efficiently. "Gender is no longer a criterion in the selection of various categories of jobs as the rules and regulations in the Civil Service do not differentiate between the sexes in enjoying their rights and discharging their duties. The Executive Regulations of Human Resources contain principles and concepts that support the empowerment of women and guarantee the rights of its employees and supports their development and training. Al-Hamdan pointed out that the ministry supports the development and training of women to keep pace with modern administrative changes to make them able to give, and hold leadership and supervisory positions. The ministry is also keen on refining and developing their talents through a package of development programs being implemented in cooperation with various national and international agencies and organizations. The ministry aims to prepare national leaders of both genders, who are promising and capable of leading the transformation and development. The minister also thanked the Saudi leadership for the care and guidance being extended to the ministry to achieve its goals and plans consistent with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program. The Ministry of Civil Service had set up the special agency to empower Saudi women in the government sector, a move that contributed to reduce high unemployment among young women. The establishment of a special agency for the appointment of women in government positions led to creation of jobs for several women in the public sector and reduced high unemployment rates among women.
