JEDDAH – The Council of Ministers on Tuesday decided to appoint Yasir Al-Rumayyan, member of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA), as chairman of the board of directors of the state oil giant Saudi Aramco, and Transport Minister Dr. Nabeel Al-Amoudi as member of the board.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman chaired the weekly session of the Cabinet at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
At the outset of the meeting, the King reaffirmed that the recent issuance of a number of royal orders emanates from the keenness of the government on the development of various sectors and their prosperity, in a way serving the interests of the Kingdom and its citizens, as well as the continuation of the development process being witnessed by the Kingdom in many areas to keep up with the Vision 2030.
Minister of Commerce and Investment and Acting Minister of Media Majed Al-Qasabi said in a statement following the session that the Monarch wished every success to the newly appointed ministers and officials in their new missions, and offered his thanks and appreciation to former ministers and officials for their great efforts in serving the religion and the homeland.
On the advent of the new Hijri year, the Cabinet offered its best wishes to Muslims all over the world, praying to Almighty Allah to close Muslims' ranks and that this year would witness a breakthrough for all crises that Arab and Islamic nations are going through.
The Cabinet also hoped that it would be a good year and a blessing for all, in which security and stability will be achieved all over the world.
On the occasion of the start of the new academic year, the Council expressed its best wishes for success for all students in achieving their hopes and aspirations.
Al-Qasabi said the Cabinet hailed the UN Security Council's condemnation of repeated terrorist attempts by Iranian-backed Houthi militias targeting civilian infrastructure in the Kingdom and posing a threat to the security of citizens and stability in the region and undermining the UN-led political process.
The statement expressed full support for the Kingdom and welcomed its efforts to hold a dialogue in Jeddah for all parties involved in the conflict in Aden.
The Cabinet affirmed that the urgent relief campaign ordered by King Salman to Sudan, which was initiated by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Work (KSRelief), and that includes the provision of shelter and medical materials to those in need in flood-affected areas, comes from the Kingdom's keenness on the welfare and well-being of the Sudanese people.
It also emphasizes that the Kingdom is pivotal in providing assistance to the needy people wherever they are with all neutrality.
