Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The Ministry of Education will allow private schools to build student dorms on school premises, Al-Hayat daily reported. While announcing the decision, the ministry stressed that good conduct and health regulations should be observed in dorms at all times. The ministry stressed that schools should respect and observe the Kingdom's religious values and its well-established traditions and customs. According to a source quoted by the newspaper, the ministry recently warned private school owners against changing locations, transferring ownership, modifying class sections, accepting cash or other aid from a foreign source without first having obtained written permission from a pertinent official or supervisor within the ministry. The ministry recently announced the formation of task committees to review tuition fees imposed by private schools. The committees will have members from the ministry and other educational departments who will be tasked with studying applications submitted by private schools and approving fees structures accordingly. The new regulations are applicable to both Saudi and foreign private schools operating in the Kingdom.
