Damaged ships line the shores of Shoaibah, 90 km south of Makkah. It has become a trademark of the area that is neglected by the authorities. Picnickers and diving enthusiasts are complaining that these shipwrecks are polluting the waters. Illegal residents are dismantling the ships for scrap and using them to store stolen items. Seawater has submerged the lower parts of these ships. They have become grazing areas for sharks that roam the area at depths of 10 to 30 meters. Shoaibah is full of coral reefs and fish, making it a favorite area for divers. However, diving in the area is hazardous due to the sharks. — Okaz photo
