Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, Sunday commended the proposed facilities envisaged in the King Abdul Aziz International Airport's new project. Prince Charles visited the media center at the airport where he was briefed on the salient features and facilities of the new project. Meanwhile, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, visited Bab Rizq Jameel Nafisa Shams Female Academy for Arts and Crafts where women are trained in the art of cooking, beauty and craft. Camilla toured the exhibition space, where products made by the women are displayed and sold. Sampling some of the cakes the women had made, Camilla said they were delicious and asked: “Can I take this and eat it later?” Camilla said she was amazed to notice a “sea of change” in Saudi Arabia. She was talking to a group of women who have attended vocational training programs at the craft academy. “Talking to people, they all tell me they think there's a big difference and they are all so intelligent and sensible,” she said. Earlier in the day, Prince Charles met the head of the world's largest Islamic grouping, the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu briefed Prince Charles “on the various intra-OIC programs and activities in support of agricultural development, food security and drought resilience. On Saturday, Charles applauded Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah's decision to appoint women to the Shoura (Consultative) Council, calling it “a vital step toward national participation in decision making.” The Prince of Wales also visited the gallery of the development project of historical Dir'iya in Riyadh and admired its contents. Prince Charles was received by Prince Sultan Bin Salman, President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities and other senior officials. Britain's royal couple later Sunday left Jeddah. At King Abdul Aziz International Airport, they were seen off by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah region; and a number of senior civil and military officials.
