Al-Jouf Governor Prince Faisal Bin Nawaf received in his office on Thursday the President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Abdulhadi Al Mansouri and both reviewed the new expansion plan of the Al-Jouf International Airport. The Emir, along with Al Mansouri who was accompanied by a number of his assistants, reviewed the final development design for the Al-Jouf International Airport as part of the Unified Model Projects, approved by GACA, as a pattern for construction of many new airports in the region. The new designs tend to exploit investment and economic opportunities in the area. Furthermore, it allows for increase in commercial revenues from retail outlets at the airport. The design can also be adapted to a number of operational model with complete different locations; in addition, the design is open for further development, plus being environmentally friendly. Prince Faisal pointed out that the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman are always seeking ways to provide passengers with convenience and facilitate their transport in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030. He added, the project would create job opportunities for the people of the region. He thanked GACA president, hoping that the project will be completed on time. The airport project includes (14) aircraft parking bays, and a travel terminal with a total capacity of one million passengers per a year. The total building area is estimated at (47,000) square meters (landside), while the airside building area is estimated at (22483) square meters. The passengers terminal sits on top a (23,368) square meters. He pointed out that implementation work for the project will begin in September of this year and construction work will last for the duration of two years. Al Mansouri, meanwhile, stressed that the development of Al-Jouf airport reflects the keenness of the wise leadership represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince in providing comfort for the citizens of this country and facilitate their air travel, through the development of modern and advanced airports. He went on to praise the continuous supervision of the Transport Minister, Chairman of GACA, Dr. Nabeel Al Amoudi. The Al-Jouf airport will be an international one and will be the start of new batch of Unified Model airport that will provide ideal services in a modern and efficient manner. The project will take into account the environmental nature of the area, which goes hand in hand with the identity of the project.
