Hanco Maintenance, CTS & SMP, Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Saudi Binladen Group (RPD) and Danube-Snickers recorded victories in the Enjaz-Western Union Basketball Tournament at the Sport Village-Jeddah Deaf Club Sports Hall in Quoraish here. The 27th basketball tournament is organized by the Filipino Basketball Association FBA. The event is mainly sponsored by Enjaz (the remittance services of Bank Albilad) in partnership with Western Union Money Transfer. Other supporters of the two-and-a-half-month event are Samsung Electronics-UMG, Al-Husaini & Al-Yahya Investment Group (Seiko Watches), Royal Brunei, CDC Holdings-Quadrillon Sales, Inc., Giordano Fashions, Sky Freight Forwarders, Pueblo De Oro Development Corp. (Cagayan De Oro City), Ay Sarap & La Paz Batchoy Restaurants and Amoudi Almesari Tailoring. Hanco Maintenance of coach Edgar Ainza won 85-83 over Habitat-Lipton when Naguit was fouled with only a few seconds remaining and Habitat-Lipton was ahead by one point, 83-82. Naguit converted both charities to hand his team the first victory in the event. Other players who contributed well were Costuna (20), Cabello (17), and Cruzat (8). Habitat Hotel-Lipton Tea players whose presence in the game was felt were Millado (21), Dichoso (15), Manalastas (13), and Santillan (9). Neophyte team CTS & SMP from Rabigh won its first assignment when it crushed Al-Nawras Movenpick Resorts 81-64. Movenpick, managed by Khalil Nassour, missed some its key players. The main scorers for CTS & SMP were Solomon (20), Torrente (16), Carreon (14), Alvarez (9), Panlilio (8) and Malaluan (5). Romano brothers, Francisco, Osorio and Glorioso also did well for Movenpick. Islamic Development Bank (IDB), led by Robert Celis, delivered a nice blow to Al-Muhaidib Contracting Co. by beating it 71-63. Dela Cruz, Pangusan, Agustin, Silva and De Ocampo contributed good points for victory. Saudi Binladen Group (RPD), headed by Anwar Hafez and Ruel Manarang, won over Sharbatly Corporation, led by Alex Torremania and Alex Solero, 81-73 in a thrilling match. After a close first half, the ace players of RPD including EITR, Adaya, Nabus, Fernando and Salado started delivering the winning points. In the final match between Danube-Snickers defeated Dr. Erfan Bagedo Hospital 65-59. While Banaag, Quijano, Romano, Mabutol, Bendicio and Martin did a good job for the winner Leyva, Gutierrez and Sumayao fought hard for Dr. Erfan and Bagedo Hospital. Officiating is being taken care of by the Jeddah Officiating Group (JOG). __
