Gary Sanchez hit a go-ahead, two-run single as part of a nine-run seventh inning as the New York Yankees rallied past the Boston Red Sox 12-8 on Sunday for a two-game sweep in Major League Baseball's first trip to London. Gio Urshela (single) and DJ LeMahieu (double) added two-run hits with the bases loaded, and two more came home on a sacrifice fly and an error as the Yankees sent 14 men to the plate in the inning to blow the game open. Adam Ottavino (3-2) got the win in relief as New York was victorious for the 13th time in its past 14 games. New York outscored Boston 29-21 as 50 combined runs mark the most in a two-game span in the storied Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. The Red Sox homered three times in the first inning for the first time since 1979 but were held scoreless from there until the eighth. The Boston bullpen blew its American League-leading 17th save, and the club has dropped five of its past seven games. Mets 8, Braves 5 Jeff McNeil's two-run single highlighted a five-run rally in the eighth inning and helped New York end its seven-game losing streak by beating Atlanta, winning for the first time since June 22. The rally began when Todd Frazier crushed a solo homer, his 11th, off Sean Newcomb (2-1) to cut the deficit to 5-4. McNeil, who finished 3-for-5, put the Mets ahead with a single off A.J. Minter. Pete Alonso completed the outburst with a two-run double to left. Noah Syndergaard was activated from the injured list to make his eighth career start against the Braves. He pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits, three walks and five strikeouts. The Braves remain the only National League team he has never beaten. Dodgers 10, Rockies 5 Joc Pederson had three hits and drove in three runs, while Matt Beaty, Kike Hernandez and Russell Martin had two hits each, as Los Angeles beat Colorado in Denver. Dylan Floro (3-2) got the final two outs of the fifth inning to get the win for the Dodgers, who earned a split of the four-game series. Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl, both of whom were named All-Stars earlier in the day, homered, and Tony Wolters had two hits for Colorado. Wieters' fourth homer of the season followed a two-out single rolled by Kolten Wong to Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer. Right-hander Carlos Martinez (2-0) allowed a hit and a walk with four strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to get the win. Dominic Leone picked up his first save. The Padres built a 3-0 lead in the first five innings against Cardinals starter Miles Mikolas on a two-run homer by Manny Machado, his 20th of the season -- giving the Padres three players with 20 homers before the All-Star break for the first time in franchise history along with Franmil Reyes and Hunter Renfroe. Astros 6, Mariners 1 Gerrit Cole produced another strong pitching performance, while rookie Yordan Alvarez notched his seventh multi-RBI game as Houston completed a three-game series sweep of Seattle. Cole (8-5) posted his ninth double-digit strikeout game and surrendered five hits and one walk over seven innings. The Mariners mustered just one extra-base hit off Cole, on shortstop J.P. Crawford's third homer of the season. Alvarez knocked in three runs with a single and double, and Jose Altuve added three hits for Houston, which improved to 9-1 against Seattle this season. Brewers 2, Pirates 1 Eric Thames homered in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Milwaukee over visiting Pittsburgh and take the rubber game of their three-game series. Chapman also hit a three-run home run in fifth inning, leaving him with a career-high six RBIs and just a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Eugenio Suarez hit a three-run homer, his 17th, in the first inning for the Reds, who held on after giving up three runs in the ninth. Jon Lester (7-6) took a rare loss against the Reds, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. Lester struck out eight, walked two and threw 32 of his season-high 117 pitches in the first inning. He fell to 7-2 lifetime against Cincinnati. Phillies 13, Marlins 6 Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to lead Philadelphia over Miami, snapping its five-game losing skid against the team with the worst record in the National League. Harper's two-run opposite field blast off Miami reliever Jeff Brigham in the eighth was his 15th of the season and gave Philadelphia a 12-6 lead. The homer and three-hit performance moved Harper within one of 200 career homers and 1,000 hits. Trevor Richards (3-9) allowed three runs and six hits in five innings. Richards, whose nine losses are the most in the National League, walked two and struck out three. Nationals 2, Tigers 1 Max Scherzer struck out 14 batters in his return to Detroit's Comerica Park as Washington edged the Tigers. The Nationals' ace held Detroit to one run on four hits and didn't issue a walk in eight innings. The former Tiger was making his first appearance in Detroit since signing with Washington after the 2014 season. Scherzer (8-5) struck out 20 Tigers in a home game during the 2016 season. Anthony Rendon scored both Nationals runs, including the go-ahead homer in the eighth. Sean Doolittle recorded his 18th save. Brandon Dixon's homer accounted for Detroit's run. The Tigers have lost nine of their last 10. Indians 2, Orioles 0 Carlos Santana drove in two runs with a pair of two-out singles, and Shane Bieber continued to mystify Baltimore, throwing eight shutout innings as visiting Cleveland defeated the O's in the finale of a three-game series. The Orioles were trying for their first sweep of a series this season after routing Cleveland 13-0 in each of the first two games. Nevertheless, this was just the first time since late April that the struggling Orioles won a series. For the Indians, Santana got RBI singles in the third and the seventh innings. Kansas City starter Brad Keller (4-9) allowed six runs, eight hits and two walks in five innings. It was his first win since May 22, a span of six winless starts with four losses.
