It's often thought that most of the innovation seen online is the result of initiatives from the developed world. However, at the UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) +10 Review meeting in Paris, awards were presented for eight Global Champions who best combined eContent with creativity. Many of the winners were from developing nations. All of the 200 digital products considered had already been World Summit Award (WSA) winners in previous years. WSA has been awarding the world's best content developers on a biennial basis since 2003. The Global champions were chosen because they showed quality content's potential to foster a global knowledge society. The eight categories and the winning products were selected by an international experts jury.
