Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia is planning to open branches of the criminal reconciliation office in all regions of the Kingdom soon, according to well-placed sources in the Public Prosecution. The sources said the criminal reconciliation units would mainly endeavor to resolve the family problems before they reach the courts. They said this would reduce the burden on the courts, prevent unnecessary complications and help maintain the unity of the family. The sources said the attorney general was personally following up the project, which he considers as extremely important for settling family disputes amicably. The Public Prosecution has started training members of these units on silks of reconciliation and the procedures of handling cases. The sources said the latest of the training programs was held in Qassim, which was attended by 26 staff members in addition to employees of the social protection department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Development as well as a number of social workers. Masaad Al-Seif, head of the Public Prosecution office in Qassim, said the initiative could help reduce litigation time and preserve family unity.
