Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council Dr. Waleed Al-Samaani said that women staffers at the courts and notaries have proved their accuracy, seriousness and high productivity in their profession. He noted this at a time when a large number of women joined various sections under the ministry, including courts and notaries. The ministry is working on 28 agreements with a number of countries over the next two years to expand the prospects for international cooperation. Samaani said that the criminal courts should not be a field for extortion on matters related to judgments. He said that judicial codification is a duty and a decisive matter. He affirmed that the ministry is striving to develop the judiciary through three phases. First among them is development of infrastructure, the most important of which is the technical transformation and legislative amendments that address the problems. The second is concerned with the speed of commercialization and achieving competitive advantages for the Kingdom in the business sector. Third is judicial guarantees in transparency of court proceedings, and improvement of principles and rules. — SG/SPA
