Okaz/Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — A father has accused doctors in King Faisal Hospital in Taif of ruining his young son's future by removing his gonads and preventing him from leading a normal sexual life for the rest of his life. Sultan Al-Harithy said the doctors refused to see his son for about six hours after he was taken to the emergency room, which led to the worsening of his condition. Harithy said his son felt severe pain in the abdomen and his mother took him to the hospital at 2 a.m., where the doctors kept him for six hours before examining him. He said the hospital refused to treat his son because his mother did not have the original family registry with her. He added that he was out of Taif at the time. Harithy said the hospital refused to accept a photocopy of the registry and insisted on seeing the original. "My wife left for her home and came back the next morning with another photocopy of the family registry, which the hospital accepted," he said. The father said the doctors rushed his son to the operations room, where his sexual glands were removed as they became useless according to them. Harithy said the gonads became useless because his son was kept in the emergency ward for about six hours without giving him any treatment, which led to contamination in his blood. "The doctors were obstinate. The six hours they kept my son without operating on him had damaged his gonads. The doctors have completely damaged the future of my son," he added. The father said he filed a complaint with the Health Ministry and also with the assistant minister in Taif who promised to investigate the case. "I will also go to the court to punish those who damaged the future of my son," he warned. Informed sources said the Department of Health Affairs in Taif already started the investigations into the case but its spokesman, Abdul Hadi Al-Rubaie, refused to comment.
