James also contributed 11 assists and seven rebounds and his steal and fast break slam dunk with 23 seconds remaining provided a final exclamation point for a Miami squad that lost twice to the Knicks already this season. "We showed we can play with them," James said. "We can play with anybody, the best in the East and the West." The Heat trailed by as much as 16 points in the first half and 59-45 at half-time before rallying to keep the Knicks to only 34 points in the second half — three fewer than New York managed in the second quarter alone. "We had a lot of adversity but we were able to stick through the rough patches and get well-needed win on the road," James said. "We came out with a sense of urgency going into the second half." The Heat matched the club record win streak, set in the 2004-05 season, and their current run is the second-longest win streak in the NBA this season to a 17-game win streak by the Los Angeles Clippers. Spurs 114, Pistons 75: Manu Ginobili had 17 points and Tim Duncan added 16 as the Spurs blitzed the Detroit Pistons with an impressive passing exhibition to win at the AT&T Center. This was the Spurs' first game without Tony Parker, whose play this season has been sparking MVP talk. Instead of trying to fill his void with one player, the Spurs (47-14) decided instead to share the wealth, and they finished with 35 assists. Greg Monroe led Detroit (23-39) with 16 points and eight rebounds and Brandon Knight surpassed 500 career assists with his fourth assist on the night. Rockets 136, Mavericks 103: The Houston Rockets blitzed the Dallas Mavericks 136-103 to snap a nine-game series losing skid at Toyota Center. Chandler Parsons connected on his first 11 shots en route to a career-high 32 points as the Rockets (33-28) opened a six-game lead on the Mavericks (26-33). Jeremy Lin and James Harden finished with 21 points apiece while O.J. Mayo paced the Mavericks with 18 points and Shawn Marion added 14 points and eight rebounds. Thunder 108, Clippers 104: The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Clippers to keep them at arm's length in the Western Conference. With an opportunity to leap frog ahead of the Thunder into second place in the standings, the Clippers could not overcome a sluggish beginning at sold out Staples Center. Instead of moving ahead of the Thunder, the Clippers remain in third place in the conference, 1.5 games behind the Thunder. Kevin Durant scored 35 points and Russell Westbrook added 29 for the Thunder while Chris Paul had 26 points and Blake Griffin 20 for the Clippers. Grizzlies 108, Magic 82: Center Marc Gasol had 12 points and a career-high 11 assists as the Memphis Grizzlies coasted to an easy victory over the hapless Orlando Magic. Wizards 90, 76ers 87: John Wall scored 16 points including seven in the final 93 seconds, and Emeka Okafor had 12 points and 16 rebounds as the Washington Wizards snapped a two-game home losing streak with a 90-87 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. Kings 119, Bobcats 83: John Salmons scored 19 points in the third quarter to help lead the Sacramento Kings to a resounding victory over the Charlotte Bobcats at Sleep Train Arena. In other games it was: Indiana 97, Chicago 92; and LA Lakers 99, Atlanta 98. — Agencies
