Briton Darren Clarke won the Dutch Open on Sunday, boosting his chances of a Ryder Cup wild card. Clarke finished four strokes ahead of Irishman Paul McGinley. Sweden's Henrik Stenson was third, one stroke further back. A second successive four-under 66 in strong winds at the Kennemer links, for a 16-under 264 total, earned Clarke his second European Tour title of the year. Clarke's impressive performance is sure to be noted by European Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo, who will announce his two wild cards after his team's top-10 automatic qualifiers have been decided at Gleneagles, Scotland, next week on the close of the Johnnie Walker Championship. The 40-year-old Clarke went into the final round three shots ahead of playing partner and world number six Stenson, who had already sealed his Ryder Cup place. Stenson, who shot a 68, had birdies at the first three holes. With Clarke dropping a shot at the second, Stenson took over the lead with a raking 40-footer on the third. Clarke would not be denied, though, and regained his advantage with six birdies in the next nine holes. A closing bogey by Henrik Stenson enabled McGinley (64), who had come through the field with a chip-in eagle and five birdies, to take second place on his own. Garcia grabs lead In New Jersey, Sergio Garcia birdied the 10th hole to break clear of a seven-way tie for the lead on the back nine of Sunday's final round of the Barclays Classic at Ridgewood Country Club. The Spaniard rolled in a two-footer for birdie on the 230-yard par-three as former Masters champion Mike Weir of Canada and PGA Tour rookie Kevin Streelman made bogeys to set up the logjam at the top. World number four Garcia led by one shot over six players after Weir three-putted from 28 feet at the ninth and overnight leader Streelman missed a five-foot par putt at the eighth. Knotted with Weir, the 2003 winner at Augusta, and Streelman at seven-under were 2003 British Open winner Ben Curtis (through 13 holes), Briton Paul Casey (10), Vijay Singh of Fiji (9). Australian Mathew Goggin was in the clubhouse on seven-under 277 after posting a four-under 67. Another shot back at six-under for the tournament were Americans Dudley Hart (16) and Kevin Sutherland (12). In the clubhouse on six-under 278 were British player Martin Laird and Americans Justin Leonard and Nicholas Thompson. World number two Phil Mickelson shot 68 to finish on 280. Alfredsson in the lead In Oregon, Helen Alfredsson seized a one-shot lead after Saturday's second round of the $1.7 million LPGA Safeway Classic at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club. The Swede shot a 5-under-par 67 for the second day in a row, putting her at 10-under, one shot ahead of countrywoman Sophie Gustafson. Gustafson stood at 11-under after 15 holes, but consecutive bogeys on Nos. 16 and 17 sent her to the clubhouse with a 68. Kelli Kuehne sits in a tie for third place with Paula Creamer after posting a 2-under 70. Cristie Kerr, who carded a 5-under 67, leads a group of seven players that sits at 6-under. – Agencies __
