Saudi Gazette report MAKKAH — Three Afghan children drowned in a water-filled hole at a building under construction. Four children aged between 10 and 13 years were playing in the area when one of them fell into the hole. His friends tried to pull him out, but they also fell into the hole. Three of them died and the fourth was rescued by people who responded to calls for help. Spokesman for Makkah Civil Defense Col. Ali Al-Muntashri said teams of divers attended the scene and recovered the bodies. The hole is 25mx25m wide and 3-4 meters deep, he added. Citizens said the hole was dug for starting construction. However, the owner was surprised by water filling the hole and simply left it unattended.
