Danish teen sensation Caroline Wozniacki played like there was no tomorrow on Saturday to win her second career WTA event in a row at the New Haven hard-court tournament. The talented 18-year-old Dane stunned top-seeded Anna Chakvetadze of Russia 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in a battle of baseliners that lasted one hour and 53 minutes. “It's amazing,” Wozniacki said. “Everything is just going so fast. I'm just enjoying every second of it. You never know when it's going to end or if it's going to end soon or not.” The 22nd-ranked Dane, who pulled off a straight set upset over number three seed Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli in the quarterfinals on Thursday and repeated the feat in the semifinals over another Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, seeded number seven, has made quite a splash this summer. She became the first Danish player to capture a WTA event in Stockholm, Sweden, earlier this month. Chakvetadze was vying for her eighth career title on the WTA Tour and had not lost a single final before Saturday. “I just didn't recover from the semis match. I finished quite late. Played three sets and didn't really sleep well. I just didn't have power especially in the third set,” said the 11th-ranked Russian, who beat former world number one Amelie Mauresmo of France in the semifinals on Friday. In the opening set, the 21-year-old fist-pumping Muscovite showed masterful court stewardship, mixing power with finesse. Chakvetadze broke her foe twice (second and fourth game) to run away with the first set. Wozniacki remained composed under fire. She crawled her way back into the contest to even the proceedings, taking full advantage of her opponent's marshmallow second serves. The Dane grabbed the momentum and took command with her penetrating groundstrokes while Chakvetadze endured a monumental collapse. In the men's final, to be played later, Mardy Fish of the United States takes on sixth-seeded Marin Cilic of Croatia. Fish beat Spanish top-seeded Fernando Verdasco 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 in one hour and twenty-eight minutes. His foe Cilic ended Luka Gregorc's dream run 6-3, 6
