RIYADH — Lt. Col. Hassan Saleh Al-Hassan,Riyadh Traffic Department spokesman, disclosed that a campaign against joy riders has begun. It has led to impounding of 500 cars, including cars belonging to joy riders and those moving in their motorcade, among others. Al-Hassan said the Traffic Department campaign has come in line with the directives of Riyadh Police Director and with the participation of the security authorities. Preparations were made since Friday morning. Undercover Traffic Department patrols kept the locations under surveillance for suspicious cars. The campaign started after Friday prayer and it is still going on. Al-Hassan said the most prominent locations that the campaign targeted were Ghuroob Al-Tashaleeh and Al-Mahdia district and other locations. The police impounded cars without number plates and others which were on the wanted list besides arresting several people who were intoxicated and others on the wanted list at the police and Traffic Department.
