JEDDAH – Neuros, a social networking website for connecting medical professionals, was founded last year by Dr. Waiz Wasey and Ravi Kiran. “People often just waste time on social networks, an addiction that cannot be broken easily. We are just trying to provide a smarter network that will benefit our users intellectually as well,” said Wasey. The integrated study center in the network provides users the options to ask questions, answer them, discuss, or just sit and learn. The network has a group created for each subject with all important exam questions, serving as a guide to students. Medical students have a hard time studying and are often limited to just one or two text books per subject. With the integrated study center in Neuros, the founders believe that medical students from around the world can connect in an intellectual way and share knowledge in a friendly atmosphere. “We have thought of innovative ways to help medical students learn, and soon through Neuros we will make that happen,” said Wasey. All users have the ability to run their own medical blogs, where they can share their experiences as medical students and be a guide to all others that follow, or as doctors giving useful tips to interns and residents. Wasey encourages students and doctors to share as much clinical knowledge and clinical pictures as possible to help build a medical hub, where quality information is available at a click of a button. “We aim to create a social network which will be encouraged to be used by parents, as our users will definitely become smarter when they log off,” said Wasey. Neuros can very well be the inception of the most innovative social network in the medical field. Currently running on Beta, Neuros is set to launch its new design interface along with added features, which will take the website a step further in providing a quality platform for all health care professionals. – SG
