ZURICH — FIFA says French second-tier league leader Nantes is barred from registering new players for one year after breaking transfer rules. FIFA judged that Nantes induced forward Ismael Bangoura to break his contract with Dubai club Al Nasr in January 2012. FIFA suspended Bangoura for four months, though the Guinea international has already served three months of the sanction. Nantes and Bangoura are jointly liable to pay Al-Nasr $6.1 million "as compensation for breach of contract," FIFA says. Nantes is challenging to win promotion to Ligue 1 this season, but the sanction bars the club from registering new players till Jan. 31, 2014. — AP
