ABHA – The official spokesman for the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC), Abdulaziz Al-Mazrou, reassured residents of Haql, Dhiba, Al-Wajh and Umluj governorates that the heavy rainfall the northern region witnessed last Sunday has not affected the pumping of water from the four desalination plants in the respective governorates to cities and villages. Al-Mazrou said the SWCC has emergency teams working around the clock at the four desalination plants to ensure water is supplied to homes and businesses in the affected areas. As a precautionary measure, Al-Mazrou said desalination plants in Jeddah have teams comprised of engineers, technicians and administrators on standby to support the desalination plants by securing spare parts, heavy machinery and specialist contractors to carry out repairs in emergency situations. He added that the northern desalination plants were largely unaffected by the rains. “They experienced a brief disruption in production. The water deficit was compensated from the main tanks in line with the directives of the respective plants' administrators. “Production promptly resumed after the danger was over,” he said while adding that the SWCC Governor Abdulrahman Al-Ibrahim and Deputy Governor for Operations and Maintenance Muhammad Farhan Al-Ghamdi were closely following the situation.
