Starting June 3 of this year, Emirates will operate its third destination to Japan and this time to Haneda International Airport, Tokyo. Emirates operated its first flight to Japan in 2002 when it launched a daily flight between Dubai International Airport and Osaka International Airport, said Thierry Antinori, executive vice president for passenger sales worldwide, Emirates. The second destination was added in 2010 with flights between Dubai and Narita International Airport, Antinori added. Antinori said the new route will help meet the increasing demands on flights between both destinations, from passengers and cargo companies. “Our clients will be able to travel from Dubai to Tokyo and back on daily basis. Besides, Emirates will develop its relations with Japan Airlines (JAL).” Haneda International Airport serves mainly domestic flights to and from Tokyo. The international runaway was opened in 2010. Starting June 03, airplanes will take off from Dubai at 09:35 a.m. Dubai time and touches down at Haneda International Airport at 12:00 midnight Tokyo time. From Tokyo, the airplane will take off at 1:30 a.m. Tokyo time and lands at 7:05 a.m. Dubai time. Japan exports mechanical and electronic products, besides car spare parts to the United Arab Emirates while it imports petrochemical products from the UAE, Antinori said. Dubai is an important center for Japan as many of the Japanese products, manufactured for the Middle East, Africa, and some parts of Asia, are re-exported to these parts of the world. Emirates' fleet has 196 airplanes serving 128 destinations in 74 countries around the world. – SG
