A gang of burglars who stole jewelry, gold and electronic items worth about SR2 million from a citizen's house here last month has been arrested. Investigations conducted by Dhahran Police led to the apprehension of burglars belonging to a South Asian country. The burglary was facilitated by an employee of the house owner. After the man reported the burglary last month, police teams examined the broken iron safes. Fingerprints were lifted and a number of house workers were interrogated by a number of experienced officials, Al-Watan reported on Thursday. Evidence indicated that one of the employees of the house, facilitated the entry into the house for others. The worker confessed to the burglary in which six others participated before fleeing to Jeddah and Riyadh. The spokesman for Eastern Province Police, Colonel Yousif Al-Qahtani, said all suspects have been apprehended in coordination with the police in Jeddah and Riyadh. Stolen items have also been recovered. Sources said the gangs members admitted their involvement in other burglaries in Jeddah and Riyadh. However, the sources did not disclose the value of these thefts but said they are “professional thieves.”
