TABUK – The National Gas and Industrialization Company (GASCO) has signed a contract with an international company to improve its handling of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply and enhancing safety requirements, said GASCO Director-General Mohammed Al-Shabnan. As per the contract, the company is tasked with reviewing the system of supplying cooking gas through GASCO's network of filling stations across the Kingdom. “The company will also ensure safety during the unloading and stocking of gas, and making available of adequate quantity of LPG purchased from Saudi Aramco,” he said, adding that GASCO embarked on an initiative to modernize its filling stations. Al-Shabnan said GASCO's gas stations, especially those in Jeddah and Dammam are located in residential areas and thereby they must fulfill increased security and safety standards. The Riyadh-based company's main activities are transporting, filling and marketing LPG, and these included gases for residential, industrial, agricultural and commercial purposes. The company owns a network of filling stations, transportation and distribution fleets across the Kingdom. He attributed the crisis in the supply of LPG in some regions to the new traffic arrangements with regard to entry of tankers into some cities. “We will solve this problem within a short period of time,” he added.
