JEDDAH — A ministerial committee has completed its review of the Saher speeding fines, and suggested that they could be increased gradually in correlation to the speed. Article 37 of the traffic law states that if a speeding fine is not paid within 30 days of the violation, the offender will incur the maximum fine. The committee suggested that the fine should not be increased, even if not paid within 30 days. However, fines should increase gradually in correlation to the speed. If speed is less than 25 km over the speed limit, the fine will be SR300, and increase to SR400 for a higher speed. Fines will continue to increase as the speed increases. These new laws will be implemented after they are approved by the concerned authorities. — SG
