With Ramadan fast approaching the Ministry of Islamic affairs has been in preparation. One of the projects the Ministry is carrying out is the distribution of the Holy Qur'an in several languages for private charities here as well as abroad. “It is our duty to let Muslims from around the world to learn more about Islam in order to correct the misconceptions relating Islam to terrorism,” said Ahmad Al-Nawawi, public relations manager for the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. “Many government agencies contribute to the project every year in printing as many copies as possible of the Holy Qur'an with CD and cassette copies of Islamic lectures,” said Al-Nawawi. The Saudi Press Agency reported 1,034,847 copies of the Qur'an have been distributed since July. Nawawi said 8,422 CD versions, in 32 languages, were distributed from June and that number will increase even more in the next few months. The project will expand to cover Muslims in all countries until the end of Ramadan, he said. The Qur'an copies will be printed by the King Fahd Complex from June 2008 until the end of Ramadan. Since 1985 the King Fahd Complex has distributed over 216 million copies of the Qur'an. __
