Saudi Gazette report JEDDAH — Music lovers from the subcontinent ushered in the New Year with some feet-stomping numbers at the Golden Tulip Hotel here. In a memorable musical show organized by Sikander Ali, an enthusiastic audience comprising Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Lankans, were treated to five hours of a harmonious variety show. Melodious and heart-rending numbers of the golden era as well as the new age films took the fans through a lyrical spectrum of emotions. Ali with Sangeeta, Amjad, Imtiaz and others, lent their voices to some hit songs of music maestros of Bollywood. Rhythmic and soulful songs from Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Goshal, Sonu Nigam, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan were featured. But it was the classic hits of Kishore Kumar that proved the crowd favorite with the singers repeatedly being asked for encores on his racy numbers. Gifted host Aamir and Comedian Dawar provided comic interludes with their jokes and sitcom. Chief Guest Rohail Khan thanked the artists on behalf of Jeddah music lovers by decorating the artists with Ajrak shawls. Khan, in his address, also urged Jeddah residents “to share and support community services and welfare.”
