RIYADH – An Al-Watan reporter who asked famous Saudi scholar Sheikh Ayed Al-Qarni why he was not allowed to enter the US was assaulted by a man accompanying the sheikh on Saturday in Riyadh. Al-Qarni was leaving the event organized by the Riyadh Disabled Children Society when Abdul Mohsin Al-Faran approached him. Although the sheikh spoke politely to the reporter and said he did not have a comment to make, one of the men walking with him attacked the reporter in broad daylight and verbally abused him. A few hours after the attack, Al-Qarni called the reporter and apologized to him for what had happened, but reiterated that he could not give any details about the ban. He also said the Saudi Embassy in the United States is following up with US authorities to find out the reason.
