The super star of Telugu film Chiranjeevi lifted the curtains from his political plans Sunday in a grand manner and announced he was dedicating his life to the service of the people. “I am entering politics not for the sake of power or the posts but for my mental satisfaction,” he told his maiden press conference on Sunday. However the name, flag and the agenda of his party remained under the wraps as the star said he will announce all the other details at a public meeting in Tirupati on August 26, the birth day of Mother Teresa. Stressing that he was coming in to politics to fight against the corruption and cleanse the public life, Chiranjeevi urged the people to join hands with him to fight for a golden future of Andhra Pradesh and for the inclusive development. Standing alone on a big podium in a hall, with historic personalities Mahatma Gandhi, Mahatma Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mother Teresa?s portraits providing the backdrop, Chiranjeevi said the yearning of the people from cross sections of society specially the poor, the youth and the women forced him to take this path. Thanking missile scientist and former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam for his inspirations to enter politics, Chiranjeevi said, “Not entering politics would have been a historic blunder.” He said N.T. Rama Rao, who was the first film star to enter politics and launch Telugu Desam Party 26 years ago, was another source of inspiration for him. “It was he who had inspired me for the first time to take up social responsibility,” he said. __
