Pakistan's highest honor for civilians, the Sitara-I-Imtiaz has been awarded to Amr Abdullah Al-Dabbagh, chairman of the Board of Directors for the Saudi Arabian Investment Authority (SAGIA) and president of the Dabbagh Group. According to a statement from the Consulate General of Pakistan in Jeddah, Al-Dabbagh is being presented with the award for his “promotion and protection of Pakistan Investment in the Kingdom. He has always invited Pakistani leadership to Jeddah forum. The award is presented once a year on the Pakistan Independence Day, Aug. 14, and then presented by the President of Pakistan on Pakistan Day, March 23. Last year the Sitara-I-Imtiaz was given to the late Bob Woolmer, Pakistan's cricket team coach, who died on March 18, 2007.
