JEDDAH — Call of Culture, a young international cultural dialogue project that aims to advance communication between youth recently marked the World Peace Day at the United Nations headquarters.
The group's youth and officials met Michael Douglas and other UN peace ambassadors. The UN peace committee called the Call of Culture's efforts an innovative approach to promote peace through cultural dialogue.
Using smart pro-active approach, Call of Culture through social media and global events finds projects of mutual interests for youth and provides the bridge to build trust and understanding between cultures.
Mohammad Bakhrieba, founder of the project, has traveled across Europe and America to mobilize youth, organizations and establishments to play an increasingly active role in bringing different cultures closer.
Individuals from diverse cultures have very limited understanding about each other's cultures. It is critical for the international community to bring ordinary individuals to a level of understanding and trust where people can co-exist and live peacefully, said Bakhrieba.
Social media networks connect every individual and provide him or her with the space to advance their lifestyle and to reflect different life aspects at individual and social levels, he added.
After the event at the UN, Call of Culture met Saudi youth in the United States. The youth, in their own capacity, are striving to promote their contemporary culture. Call of Culture stressed on the ways or dialogue and approaches that build trust and open common ground.
Mohammad Al-Hadad and Shahrezad Morssal are students studying in the US, and are addressing the stereotype issues very common in the US. Their efforts are being commended by Call of Culture, which finds the youth a great source of creativity.
Call of Culture develops standards and protocols for individuals around the globe to build bridges and advance communication utilizing social media and other media outlets. Developed protocols and standards are implemented in promoting Saudi culture.
The knowledge that Saudi Arabia produces black gold is well known, but it is less common for people to know what and who contribute to our cultures. The aim of Call of Culture is to advocate to people to take time and effort for personal, and cultural reflection.
