Abdullah Al-Maqati Okaz/Saudi Gazette ZULUM — A Saudi and five expatriate passengers narrowly escaped death on the Taif-Riyadh expressway when the car they were in would not stop and accelerated to 190 kilometers per hour. A faulty pedal is thought to have caused the problem. A security source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the driver notified the security patrols of his dilemma near Halban center. Security patrols cleared a 300 km stretch of the expressway, and escorted the car for over two and a half hours until it ran out of fuel. The car's occupants were safe, and the incident is under investigation.
