JEDDAH — The Barclays Premier League Trophy is set to make a tour in the Kingdom from Monday. The event will feature English footballer Robbie Fowler, who will accompany the Trophy to Riyadh, for a series of public viewing opportunities. This is the second consecutive year that Barclays has brought the trophy to the Kingdom for its clients, employees, and fans of the Barclays Premier League, and it hopes to ensure that all of the country's avid football enthusiasts have the opportunity to experience the trophy and meet with the eminent footballer, Fowler. John Vitalo, Chief Executive Officer of Barclays PLC for the Middle East and North Africa, said: “The Barclays Premier League Trophy has been on tour around the globe and will visit Saudi Arabia again. The Premier League is broadcast to more than 720 million households in more than 200 countries, and has become one of the most famous sporting trophies in the world. As part of our continuous commitment to the Kingdom, we are happy to once again showcase the much desired trophy through a series of public viewings and welcome Fowler to the Kingdom to add to the excitement.” The trophy symbolizes the game, with a green base to represent the field of play and the design is linked to ‘The Three Lions of English Football'. It weighs a total of 25 kilograms and was crafted from solid sterling silver by Asprey and Garrard; the Crown Jewellers. Over the past year, the Barclays Premier League trophy has travelled to the Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Hong Kong, China, South-East Asia, the United States, India and South Africa. — SG
