Hamburg SV rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga opener on Friday, spoiling Juergen Klinsmann's league debut as coach of Bayern. Piotr Trochowski scored from the penalty spot in the 56th minute to level for Hamburg. Hamburg, which drew both of its games against Bayern last season, looked like the better organized team and Trochowski hit the post early on. But Bayern converted its early chances and Bastian Schweinsteiger drove in a volley after 12 minutes when Hamburg's defense failed to clear a cross from Ze Roberto. Four minutes later, Bayern doubled its lead when Joris Mathijsen pulled down Schweinsteiger and gave away a penalty. Podolski fired home from the spot. Hamburg took some time to recover and struck back in the 25th. Trochowski's right cross was deflected in by Paolo Guerrero's header. Miroslav Klose then broke free but Hamburg goalkeeper Frank Rost robbed him of the ball. Five minutes into the second half, Klose fed Podolski, but the striker shot high from five meters. Hamburg got the equalizer it deserved by earning a penalty when Christian Lell took down Ivica Olic, who had earlier hit the post with a volley off a corner. Trochowski, once a Bayern player, took the shot. Klose, who has been in poor form for months, had another uninspired performance and was replaced by Thomas Mueller with more than 10 minutes to go. Bayern sorely missed its two biggest stars, top scorer Luca Toni and playmaker Franck Ribery, both injured. Hamburg compensated for the departure of playmaker Rafael van der Vaart for Real Madrid with a strong team performance. ‘Make Terry captain' New Chelsea coach Luiz Felipe Scolari urged England to re-appoint John Terry as captain on Friday. England coach Fabio Capello, who has tried several skippers including Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard since taking over earlier this year, will announce his permanent selection before Wednesday's friendly against Czech Republic at Wembley. “It would be a fantastic choice if he made John Terry captain,” Scolari told reporters ahead of Chelsea's Premier League opener against Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. “He is captain of Chelsea and I think he must again captain England. He helps the manager and the players by saying the right things on and off the field.” Central defender Terry had been England skipper under Steve McClaren, who was Italian Capello's predecessor. Scolari will pin his goal hopes on Franchman Nicolas Anelka against FA Cup winner Portsmouth with Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba out injured. Anelka only netted twice in 24 appearances for the London club last season but has been in good goal-scoring form in pre-season. – Agencies __
