MADINAH — The Madinah branch of the Saudi Cancer Society confirmed 20 cases of breast cancer from 4,378 women it had examined. The Society also honored a number of primary health care centers for their contribution in combating breast cancer. A partnership agreement was signed between the Society, represented by Taiba center for the early detection of cancer, and the Health Directorate, represented by the primary health care department. The primary health care centers' role is to educate patients on the importance of the early detection of cancer, and to refer women over 35 years to Taiba center for the necessary screening tests. The assistant director of primary health care in Madinah, Dr. Khalid Al-Harbi, said the program achieved remarkable results last year. — SG
