Eric Hinske had three hits, including a home run, and Ben Zobrist doubled in the go-ahead run in the seventh as Tampa Bay beat Oakland 3-2 on Wednesday.
Carlos Pena hit a home run for the first-place Rays, who maintained their three-game lead over Boston in the American League East. The Rays have won four of five and 10 of 14 Eric Patterson, who was recalled from Sacramento earlier Wednesday, drove in two runs for the A's, while Mark Ellis and Bobby Crosby both had two hits.
Andy Sonnanstine (12-6) lasted six innings, allowing two runs and six hits. Sonnanstine became the quickest pitcher to 12 wins (119th game) in Rays history. Grant Balfour and Dan Wheeler both pitched a scoreless inning.
Mariners 10, Angels 7, 12 innings: At Anaheim, California, Seattle's Wladimir Balentien hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 12th inning after striking out four times as Seattle edged Los Angeles.

Roy Corcoran (3-0) allowed one hit over three innings to get the win. Ibanez was 4-for-5, including a solo homer in the sixth and an RBI single that capped a three-run ninth against Francisco Rodriguez, who also gave up a tying two-run double to Jeremy Reed. It was his fifth blown save in 51 attempts.
Mark Teixeira, who gave the Angels a 3-1 lead in the third with a two-run homer against Felix Hernandez, hit another leading off the bottom of the ninth against closer J.J. Putz. It was Teixeira's 21st multihomer game and third this season.
