BERLIN — Bayer Leverkusen edged past Nuremberg 1-0 courtesy of Stefan Kiessling's ninth goal of the season Saturday to cut Bayern Munich's Bundesliga lead to seven points, while tightening its hold on second place. Kiessling, battling to reclaim a spot in the Germany team, moved joint top of the scorers' list with a 37th minute effort after fine work from Germany international Andre Schuerrle. In-form Leverkusen's sixth win in its last seven games lifted it to 30 points, seven behind Bayern. Schalke 04 needed a late equalizer to draw 1-1 at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach and rescue a point to move up to 25. Julian Draxler's 86th minute goal canceled out Igor De Camargo's fine strike on the hour. On Friday, Fortuna Dusseldorf demolished 10-man Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 to move further away from the Bundesliga relegation zone and inflict a second straight defeat on its rival. El Shaarawy lifts Milan In Rome, Stephan El Shaarawy scored twice as AC Milan recovered from a goal down to defeat Catania 3-1 Friday and climb up to seventh place in Serie A in a game where both sides finished with 10 men. Fresh from its 1-0 win over league leader Juventus last weekend, Milan continued its recovery from a disastrous start to the campaign which saw it suffer five defeats in its first eight games. But it did it the hard way in Sicily Friday after slipping behind to an 11th-minute header from Nicola Legrottaglie. Its fortunes turned when Catania had Pablo Barrientos sent off for a second bookable offense in the 49th minute. Four minutes later, El Shaarawy leveled despite a hint of offside in the build-up involving Robinho. Kevin-Prince Boateng made it 2-1 to Milan in the 56th minute with a fine drive although the Ghana international was red-carded in injury time for a dangerous tackle. However, El Shaarawy settled Milan's nerves by adding his second of the night and 12th in the league this season in the second minute of time added-on. Osasuna beats Rayo In Spain, Osasuna beat Rayo Vallecano 1-0 thanks to an early goal from striker Kike Sola Friday, provisionally lifting the Pamplona-based team out of the Spanish league's relegation zone. Sola ran onto Alvaro Cejudo's pass down the right flank and beat goalkeeper David Cobeno with a chip shot from a tight angle in the fifth minute at Reyno de Navarra stadium. — Agencies
