Mishal Al-Otaibi Saudi Gazette RIYADH – Drivers involved in traffic accidents that take place on busy streets can move their vehicles to a safe spot off the road to avoid endangering public safety and blocking traffic, according to the Riyadh Traffic Administration. Traffic law stipulates when an accident occurs in a location that might then pose a danger to public safety or block the road, drivers may move their vehicles out of the way before a police officer arrives at the scene, said Lt. Col. Hassan Al-Hassan, spokesman for Riyadh traffic police and director of the road traffic control center. If two vehicles are involved in a minor accident and the drivers decide whose fault it is, they can move their vehicles to a safe location off the road, he said. Most traffic accidents that happen on main streets cause congestion because the drivers do not move their cars off the road, causing jams and making it difficult for officers and emergency units to get to the accident scene, he said. He added: “The rainy season is around the corner and people should drive more carefully because many accidents happen during this time."
